This time, Vampire Walter from Hellsing: Ultimate.
I thought he looked rather slick, so I wanted to do him as well. I liked his outfit very much.
Done on print paper, inked with Sakura Pens 005 and 01. Prisma color markers Cool Grey 60/70/80/Black, Copic "Special Black" His pin stripes and "piano wire" was done with white gel pen found in Michaels.
Picture was taken with my camera phone and sized in my computer.
Walter belongs to Kouta Hirano. Art belongs to Nando, late 2008.
For the record. I think that being "born" or "blessed" with talent does matter. It's more or less a head start. But to me, it's just about who tells you how to do it. It's the technique taught and how much time is spent.
I'm not good on time management and technique. It took me a long time because I just continually layered color over color. Think about it as how you color in Photoshop. 70 first, 80 for gradient, and the normal black to almost finish it, and the special black (very very solid black) to get the darkest of it. Coloring the picture took the better part of a 2 hour span, mostly being careful about it and coloring him in "parts" designated by body part, as to keep the marker strokes from being apparent. You notice the strokes when it's a novice artist or they are straight up in a rush. That's the way I used to color in photoshop and I color the same way with Prismas.
If someone could teach me how to color more "efficiently", that would be cool too.

Foxjane: HE'S ON CRYSTAL NETH!
Nando: LOL!!!
Hmm, yeah I was reading a bit on how to colour better with markers. Sadly I've never tried, but I aspire to try quite soon. So there will be a lot of novice art poking around haha. But I like to post my art as it evolves so that I can look at it later and see how far I've actually come.
I severely don't think that anyone is just born in to talent. It takes a lot of practice, as I am learning with skateboarding.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
